A storm approaches – pearly gray sky turns to slate. Slashes of charcoal add menace and contrast to the lacy shrubs. The wind murmurs and joins the conversation as tingly currents spider up my spine. Did I head for shelter, a prudent , practical choice, or face the intensity and revel in the forces? Often the difficult decision is whether to hide or face the storm.

Decisions, sometimes there are too many! This simple window doesn’t demand much, but I needed to choose. The soft summer day shining through a window curtain with yellow polka dots, or the strength of shadows in black and white? Two different moods for the same window. A click of my mouse and the meaning changes. Neither option is wrong, just a matter of interpretation. The choice depends on my intent and the purpose for communication.Drama versus serenity is too big for me! Let me know which choice you like and please tell me why.
This collage speaks to what drives a musician to compose or play. The elements are classic: love, demands, desire to please or to play two lives. For each artist the challenges differ. Some are life-changing, others not so extreme. But each decision feeds our art and the story of our lives. Sometimes the little choices may have the most far-reaching effects and of course, we never realize it at that moment. For some , passion feeds the soul to create; for others, it may be loss. Each step creates a path that is original and instinctive to us. We can trace our steps back but never reach the same point in time. (Unless you are an Einsteinian physicist who has figured it all out.) Moving forward is how we grow and survive.
A stairway. You can’t see what waits at the top .You know for sure what stands at the bottom.Taking that small first step may not require any major physical effort , but getting to the top and making the discovery may change you in ways you never thought possible. Sometimes the smallest steps lead us in directions we never expected. That’s where the courage resides.
